The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has received a report of a maritime security incident occurring approximately 528 nautical miles southeast of Eyl, Somalia, and around 120 nautical miles north of the previously reported incident 040-25.
According to the vessel’s master, a small craft carrying three individuals approached the ship at position 03°57.00'N, 057°16.05'E. The craft is believed to be linked to a Pirate Action Group (PAG) operating in the area. The master reported that his vessel successfully increased speed and distanced itself from the approaching craft, which was later seen returning to a suspected mothership identified as ISSA MOHHAMDI.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident. UKMTO has advised all vessels transiting the region to exercise heightened caution and promptly report any suspicious activity.
