The General Company for Ports of Iraq announces the successful floating of the ninth and final segment of the immersed tunnel sections as part of the Al Faw Grand Port Project. With this milestone, all concrete segments have been successfully floated within the fabrication basin, which is now completely cleared following the completion of all work stages in accordance with approved engineering and technical plans.
This achievement coincides with the preparation of the eighth segment for transfer to its designated location along the waterway within the Khor Al-Zubair Channel, in readiness for the immersion phase and placement of the segments in their final position beneath the channel ,marking the commencement of the final field phase of the immersed tunnel works.
The General Company for Ports of Iraq affirms that this development represents a pivotal moment in the progress of this strategic project. It reflects the sustained efforts and high-level coordination among the company’s teams, the Italian consulting firm, and the Dutch executing company, in alignment with the directives of the Iraqi Ministry of Transport to complete the immersed tunnel project in accordance with international standards and the established timelines.
The company also expresses its appreciation for the role played by the national, administrative, and technical personnel who continued to work with increasing momentum despite challenges, contributing to the realization of this national achievement one of the most significant phases of the Al Faw Grand Port Project.
