The Ministry of Transport (MOT) joined maritime authorities around the world in celebrating World Maritime Day, observed annually on September 25.
On this occasion, the Ministry organized a kayaking and paddleboarding competition that took place at Katara Beach, aiming to highlight the pivotal importance of this vital sector and its role in sustainable development and marine environmental protection.
The event, held in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Doha Marine Sports Club, and QTerminals Group, served as a platform to raise public awareness about the importance of preserving the marine environment and to underscore the role of maritime navigation as a fundamental pillar in connecting nations and enhancing trade and economic exchange.
MOT's Assistant Undersecretary for Maritime Transport Affairs Abdulaziz Abdullah Al Sulaiti stated that commemorating this global day through sports and recreational activities reflects the State of Qatar’s steadfast commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at protecting seas and oceans and promoting the sustainability of the maritime transport sector.
