The Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), through the General Directorate of Ports and Auxiliary Maritime Industries (DGPIMA), initiated the recertification audit process under the ISO 9001:2015 standard, conducted by Bureau Veritas, an internationally recognized certification body.
The audit aims to verify the conformity and effectiveness of the quality management system implemented in the DGPIMA, in accordance with the international standards that govern institutional processes, strengthening transparency, traceability and excellence in the provision of port and auxiliary maritime services.
The Director of DGPIMA, Max Florez, highlighted that a team of auditors will visit the various ports throughout the country, with the purpose of verifying the effective application of procedures, continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
“This evaluation represents a valuable opportunity to measure the degree of compliance of our processes and to continue raising the quality of Panamanian port service in accordance with international best practices,” Florez noted.
For his part, Alejandro Medina, representative of Bureau Veritas Certification, explained that the recertification process allows verification of full compliance with the ISO 9001:2015 standard, verifying the correct implementation of technical documentation, operating procedures, instructions, manuals and other normative components of the quality management system.
“The audit reflects the AMP ’s institutional commitment to continuous improvement, efficient management, and compliance with international criteria applicable to the maritime-port sector,” Medina emphasized.
The AMP regularly conducts internal and external audits in all its general directorates, reaffirming its commitment to administrative transparency, the competitiveness of the Registry and compliance with the standards established by international maritime organizations.
