The IBS-Ports 2025 Summit is set to begin tomorrow, October 8, 2025, at Al-Faw Grand Port in Basra, Iraq, under the patronage of the Iraqi Ports Company and in partnership with Aamal Company, held under the theme “Opportunities in Al Faw”.
Strategic Projects
The summit aims to discuss strategic projects linked to Iraq’s Development Road, exploring ways to enhance the country’s position within global supply chains and solidify its role as a key regional logistics hub. Discussions will also focus on investment opportunities in energy, smart ports, industrial cities, and joint operations.
According to the organizers, the summit will review the Iraqi government’s plans to develop infrastructure and transport networks, including land and rail connections with Europe via Turkey, as well as projects in renewable energy, desalination, and public-private partnerships to improve the investment environment.

Al-Faw Port
Al-Faw Grand Port stands out as one of Iraq’s most strategic projects, featuring five modern berths capable of handling various types of cargo, the world’s longest breakwater, a submerged tunnel linking road networks beneath the navigation channel, and an advanced container yard equipped with the latest logistics systems.
The summit will also include sessions on digital transformation in ports, covering full automation systems, cargo tracking, and data protection, alongside discussions on potential collaboration with port operators and global shipping lines, further strengthening Iraq’s position as a leading hub for trade and transportation in the region.
