Offshore Middle East jackup contract halted
Asia Offshore Drilling has received notice of a 12-month suspension for its jackup AOD II, currently working in the Middle East.
The client, an NOC in the region, said the interruption would last for up to 12 months, citing the impact on its drilling program of adverse crude oil price movements affecting the oil and gas industry.
The AOD II, owned 33.76% by Mermaid and 66.24% by Seadrill had secured a three-year contract for the rig, which started on April 15, 2020.
The suspension, which had started on completion of the last well in progress, will be at a zero-day rate.
