Mawani Adding the Shipping Service MGX-2 to King Abdul Aziz Port
The Saudi Ports Authority announced the addition of the new shipping service “Milaha Gulf Express 2” (MGX-2) by Qatar Navigation Company “Milaha” to King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam. This service connects the Kingdom with ports in China and India, enhancing the port’s status and increasing its competitiveness among exporters, importers, and shipping agents.
This development emphasizes the growing role of King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam in supporting the global logistics service chain, thanks to its leading operational and logistical features, including 43 fully-equipped and serviced berths with a capacity of up to 105 million tons of cargo and containers. The port also boasts specialized terminals, advanced equipment, and modern machinery that enable it to handle various types of cargo, aligning with the targets of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS) to solidify the Kingdom’s standing as a global logistics hub bridging the three continents.
The new shipping service connects King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam with seven regional and international ports, including Ningbo, Shanghai, and Shekou in China; Nhava Sheva and Mundra in India; Sohar in Oman; and Hamad in Qatar, through bi-weekly regular sailings with a capacity of up to 9,000 TEUs.

It is noteworthy that King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam has received 21 quay cranes (QC) and RTG cranes and has been equipped with 80 electric trucks during the current year, 2024. These upgrades contribute to developing and modernizing the port to become a flexible and sustainable logistics center, enhancing its capacity to handle advanced and large vessels with full productivity and high efficiency.
