A total of 69 students from 38 countries graduated from the International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI) in Malta, marking the completion of the Class of 2023-2024. The ceremony celebrated the achievements of these new maritime law professionals who are poised to make significant contributions to the international maritime community.

IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez delivered an inspiring keynote speech, emphasizing the importance of their training: "The skills you have acquired at IMLI will assist you in serving your countries and the international maritime community at large," he stated. 

He further highlighted the critical role these graduates will play in the maritime sector: "The maritime world will rely on your professionalism and expertise in international maritime law to implement the numerous treaty provisions which ensure safe, clean, and secure oceans."

In his address, the Secretary-General expressed gratitude to IMLI Director, Professor Dr. Norman Martínez Gutiérrez, and the Institute’s staff for their unwavering dedication to the students.

The celebratory graduation ceremony reflected the culmination of rigorous academic work and the beginning of promising careers for the graduates in the field of international maritime law.
