The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) and Global Environmental Management Services Ltd. (Reviva), owned by the SIRC Group, signed a contract today to establish a marine and industrial waste recycling complex at Jeddah Islamic Port, with an investment value of 30 million riyals by the company and a total area of up to 10,000 square meters.
The contract was signed by H.E. Mr. Omar Hariri, President of the Saudi Ports Authority, and the CEO of the Saudi Investment Recycling Company (SIRC), Eng. Ziyad bin Mohammed Al-Shiha, in the presence of several officials.
This initiative is part of Mawani’s efforts to enhance environmental sustainability, preserve marine environmental safety, and build a sustainable maritime sector that strengthens the Kingdom's standing as a global logistics hub bridging three continents, in line with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS) and the Green Ports Initiative.
The new complex will contribute to maximizing the utilization of waste, transforming it into valuable resources, and building a thriving circular economy in the Kingdom. It will offer comprehensive waste management and recycling solutions, industrial maintenance services, by-products recycling, and transportation services, thereby reducing waste generation to the lowest possible level and improving waste management operations and environmental preservation.
The strategic collaboration between Mawani and Reviva boosts the success of efforts to achieve waste management goals in the Kingdom, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030. It also increases the private sector’s contribution to supporting economic development and making Jeddah Islamic Port one of the top 10 global ports.
It is noteworthy that Mawani is keen to launch pioneering initiatives directly linked to the Saudi Green Initiative, which focuses on reducing emissions and overseeing climate change mitigation efforts. Additionally, it seeks to enhance the partnership between the public and private sectors to expand the scope of work in this field, thereby boosting the commercial attractiveness of the Kingdom’s ports globally.
