Construction of LNG carriers for Greek LNG shipping services provider GasLog has started at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) Shipyard in Geoje, South Korea.

According to GasLog’s social media update, the construction began with the steel cutting of 174,000 cbm LNG carrier, Hull No. 2352, on 22 March.

GasLog’s new building supervision team proudly participated in the steel-cutting ceremony and officially kicked off another shipbuilding journey for the GasLog family”, the company said.

To remind, the shipping company ordered a total of four LNG carriers from DSME at the end of 2021.

As revealed at the time of the order, each ship will feature the latest generation MEGI propulsion.

The delivery of these ships is scheduled for 2024 and 2025.

Earlier this week, units of GasLog and GasLog Partners entered into an agreement with Chinese leasing company China Development Bank Financial Leasing (CDB Leasing) for the sale of two LNG carriers.

CDB Leasing agreed to purchase two LNG carriers at a consideration not exceeding $284 million.
