Hapag-Lloyd has announced a rotation change in its West Africa Express (WAX) service, by adding a call at Le Havre in France.

This shift will offer a direct product with a fast transit time to Tema, Ghana and Abidjan, Ivory Coast, both for France and Benelux, according to the German carrier, which added that the Le Havre call in this service will expand the supply chain network between the French port and other origins and destinations worldwide.

Hapag-Lloyd's WAX service will be using the port of Tangier in Morocco as the key connection point for North European and West African markets.

"Tangier will ensure the Hamburg connection to West Africa through alternative Hapag-Lloyd services, and support the Casablanca import and export markets," said the company in a statement.

The revamped WAX service will commence on 22 June (Estimated Time of Arrival - ETA) at Le Havre with the 3,500 TEU NileDutch Breda.
