Drydocks World to refurbish Atlanta FPSO for extended service offshore Brazil
Drydocks World has signed a contract with Yinson Production to upgrade, refurbish and convert the Atlanta Field FPSO on behalf of Brazilian operator Enauta Energia.
The upgraded vessel will be delivered in third-quarter 2023 to the Atlanta oil field in the Santos Basin offshore Brazil. It should be fully operational by 2024, producing up to 50,000 bbl/d and 12.4 MMcf/d of gas, with 1.8 MMbbl crude storage capacity. It will operate under ABS Class.
Work for the 18-month project at the Drydocks World-Dubai shipyard includes production engineering, procurement of bulk material, construction and support for onshore commissioning; steel renewal, piping refurbishment, tank coating and refurbishment of equipment to be operated under ABS Class.
Atlanta Field is in Block BS-4 in 1,500 m water depth with estimated reserves of 106 MMbbl. The vessel, formerly known as OSX-2, was previously converted in 2013 under ABS Class to operate in the Waimea Field off Brazil but never started operations.
Australian independent Karoon Energy has advised Energia it is terminating an exclusivity agreement it entered into concerning the potential acquisition of a 50% non-operated interest in the Atlanta Field.
Karoon said it was unable to complete the necessary due diligence and conclude negotiation of acceptable terms during the agreed exclusivity period, given the material scale of the Atlanta project.
