Data compiled shows a significant decrease of South Korean shipbuilders in the industry due to a decade long slump of workers leaving their companies for a myriad of reasons.

In comparison to the amount of new shipbuilding contracts that were signed last year between Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, Samsung Heavy Industries and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, the amount of workers does not compare which shows a forecasted possible manpower shortage in production for the future.

Calculating from December 2015 to November 2021, workers in the industry decreased significantly from 202,000 to 93,000.
