Ship, Yacht & Marine Services Exporters Association (GYHİB), which is one of the main supporters of Expomaritt Exposhipping İstanbul, achieved an increase of 280 percent in April compared to the same period of the previous year and carried through an export amounting to approximately 110 million dollars. The sector ranked third among the sectors that increased Turkey's exports with the highest rate in April.

Expomaritt Exposhipping Istanbul, International Maritime Exhibition & Conference, which will be organized by Informa Markets on behalf of the Turkish Chamber of Shipping between 12-15 October 2021, will bring the mariners across the globe together with Turkish maritime industry professionals for the 16th time at Viaport Marina Tuzla Istanbul.

Cem Seven, President of Ship, Yacht & Marine Services Exporters Association (GYHİB), evaluated the export figures of the sector. Seven said, “As the Ship, Yacht & Marine Services Exporters Association (GYHİB), we are pleased to be among the sectors that increased Turkey's exports at the highest rate in April, as we did last month. The fact that we do export in a way involving high technology and innovative elements, has made significant contribution to our success."

"The highest number of exported sectoral goods in April were fishing vessels and tugboats."
Looking at the sub-items of the sector, it was observed that, out of the export made in April, 45 million dollars export was made in fishing vessels; 43 million dollars export was made in tugboats, 10 million dollars export in yachts; 7 million dollars export in other types of marine vehicles and 5 million dollars export was made in sub-industry exports.

"Most exports to Norway"
The country to which the ship, yacht and services sector exported most last month was recorded as Norway. 45 million 611 thousand dollars of exports were made to Norway in April. Exports to Norway increased by 519 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. (GYHİB) President Seven said, "Most of our exports consist of fishing vessels going to Norway and tugboats going to different countries." Norway was followed by Romania with 15 million 349 thousand dollars, Estonia with 8 million 488 thousand dollars, Marshall Islands with 7 million 507 thousand dollars and Iceland with 7 million 204 thousand dollars.

Evaluating the exports of the Ship, Yacht and Marine Services sector in the first four months of 2021, Seven said: “When we expanded the figures for the first four months, the distribution of our total exports of 321 million dollars is as follows; Fishing ship exports to Norway account for 147 million dollars, which corresponds to almost half of our exports. We export tugboats worth 50 million dollars to countries such as Estonia, Romania, Iceland, Canada, Chile and the UK. Then we have a total of 39 million dollar yacht product group exports, consisting of 32.5 million dollars worth motor yacht exports (of which 21 million dollars is for the United States of America). Following our yacht exports, we realized 28.2 million dollars of sea tanker and 20.4 million dollars of sub-industry exports. In addition to these product groups, we have made exports of nearly 36 million dollars as other floating vehicles and ships. We have ships that are under construction in our shipyards and that we will deliver in the coming months. We anticipate that our export increase will continue in the coming months."

Highlighting that the exhibitions related to the ship and yacht sectors held in Turkey are important in terms of bringing together local and international sector stakeholders, Seven states that "As the Ship Yacht and Services Exporters Association (GYHİB), we undertake the national participation of Turkey in sectoral exhibitions held abroad and we also support sectoral exhibitions to contribute to the international promotion of both our country and the Turkish ship and yacht building sectors.
