For the second time within a week… a new giant vessel confirms the rise of the Port of Tripoli to the ranks of pivotal ports in the Eastern Mediterranean.
In a scene reflecting the rapid transformation taking place at the Port of Tripoli on the regional maritime transport map, the port received this evening the giant container vessel MONTE CRISTO belonging to CMA CGM, with a length of 366 meters and a capacity of approximately 15,000 TEU, for the second time within one week that a vessel of this size has berthed at the port, following the arrival of the vessel CMA CGM EUGENIE.
The importance of this event is not limited to the record numbers achieved by these giant vessels, but lies in the strategic implications it carries, as it practically confirms that the Port of Tripoli has become an essential part of the global shipping network of the largest maritime transport companies, and that it possesses the operational, technical, and logistical capabilities that qualify it to receive mega vessels on a regular and not exceptional basis.
The repeated berthing of vessels of this size within a short period reflects the growing level of confidence granted by the CMA CGM Group to the Port of Tripoli, and indicates the consolidation of its role as a hub port on the eastern Mediterranean coast, capable of serving regional and international trade flows and attracting transshipment operations, thereby strengthening Lebanon’s position as an advanced logistics center in the region.
This development also constitutes a practical translation of the vision aimed at transforming Tripoli into an integrated economic platform based on the integration of the port with the Special Economic Zone, the railway, and President René Moawad Airpaort in Qlayaat, opening new horizons for investment and trade and granting northern Lebanon a pivotal role in regional transport and logistics activity.
The arrival of the vessel MONTE CRISTO confirms that the Port of Tripoli is no longer merely an alternative or local port, but has become a key player in the maritime transport equation in the Eastern Mediterranean, and capable of attracting the largest global shipping lines and meeting the requirements of the new generation of container ships.
