Today, National Navigation Co. marked a new milestone in modernizing Egypt’s commercial fleet with the steel-cutting ceremony for two advanced 82,000 DWT Kamsarmax bulk carriers at Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry in China.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Mohamed Soliman Metwally, Board Member & Managing Director, representing H.E. Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, along with senior executives from Hantong Shipyard.
The two vessels, scheduled for delivery in 2026, feature state-of-the-art technology and a high-efficiency MAN B&W main engine compliant with current and future environmental standards.
With these additions—alongside two more Kamsarmax vessels contracted for delivery in 2028—NNC will have renewed around 54% of its owned fleet in just three years, fully funded by the company’s own resources.
A major step aligned with Egypt Vision 2030 and strengthening the global competitiveness of Egypt’s commercial fleet.
Another strong step toward a more efficient and sustainable future for maritime transport.
