The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), represented by H.E. Dr. Majid bin Mansour Al-Malik, Vice President for Shared Services and Digital Transformation, presented a working paper on smart ports and digital transformation entitled “Smart Ports & Logistic Transformation.” The paper was delivered as part of the Saudi delegation’s participation in the meetings of the IMO Sub-Committee on Carriage of Cargoes and Containers (CCC), held at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) headquarters in London, United Kingdom.
In its paper, Mawani highlighted its digital strategy for the Kingdom’s ports and ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing digital efficiency. These include the deployment of 5G technologies to boost operational performance, the launch of a Maritime Single Window, and the development of a Port Community System (PCS).

The working paper also outlined Mawani’s digital transformation journey, reflecting its strategic direction to advance sustainability, improve operational efficiency, and enhance customer experience through cutting-edge digital services. These initiatives are designed to strengthen supply chains and increase the competitiveness of Saudi ports, in line with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which seeks to solidify the Kingdom’s standing as a leading global logistics hub.
It is worth noting that the IMO Sub-Committee on Carriage of Cargoes and Containers (CCC) is tasked with developing technical provisions for the safe transport of all types of cargoes, including dangerous goods, solid bulk cargoes, and containers. The International Maritime Organization (IMO), a specialized UN agency, is responsible for the safety and security of shipping and the prevention of marine pollution, in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
