The Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Maritime Registry welcomed the entire Azamara Cruises fleet in November 2025. Azamara Cruises, which specializes in boutique, upscale vessels with destination-immersive itineraries, joins a growing number of passenger lines choosing to flag with the RMI.
“It is with great pride that we chose to place our four vessels- AZAMARA JOURNEY, AZAMARA ONWARD, AZAMARA PURSUIT, and AZAMARA QUEST-into this distinguished registry. This partnership reflects our unwavering commitment to operational excellence and safety at sea. We value the RMI’s partnership and technical expertise as we continue to deliver outstanding guest experiences,” said Azamara Cruise CEO Dondra Ritzenthaler.
“We are delighted to welcome the Azamara fleet to our registry. Their arrival marks our mutual dedication to quality, integrity, and the advancement of excellence at sea,” said IRI President Bill Gallagher. “IRI has a long-term and consistent commitment to working with the cruise industry and we’re proud to continue that tradition with Azamara Cruises.”
Each with an approximate length of 592 feet and 30,777 gross tons, the vessels each carry approximately 700 passengers and 400 crew members. Azamara Cruises is the second upper-premium passenger line to exclusively flag with the RMI.
As the cruise market continues to expand into new destinations, expedition style itineraries, and personalized experiences, IRI’s dedicated Cruise Team engages clients in problem-solving solutions. The team’s solution-based approach has assisted passenger and expedition vessels in navigating regulatory challenges to deliver immersive travel experiences with operational efficiency. IRI’s 28 offices worldwide provide regulatory and technical assistance on the procedural aspects of vessel operations 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Recognized as a high-quality registry worldwide, the RMI is the only of the world’s largest registries to achieve U.S. Coast Guard QUALSHIP 21 status for 21 consecutive years, and remains white listed with both the Paris and Tokyo Memorandums of Understanding.
