In implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to develop and modernize the Suez Canal Authority's fleet, Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, announced the completion of trials and delivery of the tugboats "Azm 3" and "Azm 4" with a pulling power of 90 tons and their sailing from Safaga to the Suez Canal in preparation for joining the Authority's fleet. This came during his inspection of the construction work of the various marine units being built for the Authority in Safaga in partnership between the Suez Canal Authority and the South Red Sea Shipyard Company, where he was received by Mr. Mustafa El-Degishi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the South Red Sea Shipyard Company, in the presence of a number of leaders of the Authority and the Company.
The two new tugboats have identical dimensions, with each tugboat being 32 meters long, 13.5 meters wide, and 6 meters deep, and reaching speeds of up to 12 knots, with a pulling power of 90 tons.
During his tour, the Chairman of the Authority followed up on the start of the trial operation of the new tourist yacht within the production line of luxury tourist yachts at the Suez Canal Modern Boats Company, and reviewed the progress rates of three tour launches being built at the two fiberglass factories in parallel with the completion of the factory's equipment works.
He also followed up on the completion of the fiberglass factories, where the supply of a set of wood cutting and shaping machines, in accordance with the latest global technology, began at the Suez Canal Modern Boats Company in the free zone, in partnership between the Suez Canal Authority and the South Red Sea Shipyard Company.

During his visit, the Chairman of the Authority was keen to follow up on the progress of work and to learn about the latest developments in the construction of 6 locomotives of the “Azm” type from a series of 10 locomotives being built for the Authority, as the construction and delivery of four locomotives has already been completed. Lieutenant General Rabie also directed the rapid completion of the block assembly work for two additional locomotives, “Azm 11” and “Azm 12,” which are being built for sale abroad and are scheduled to be launched in January 2027.
Lieutenant General Rabie was briefed on the progress of the construction of the two deep-sea fishing vessels “Rizq 2” and “Rizq 3”, where the hull construction work has been completed, and work is currently underway to complete the mechanical and electrical installations and to receive the supply of propellers and machinery from the Belgian company ABC.
Lieutenant General Osama Rabie affirmed that the Suez Canal Authority has taken serious steps towards localizing the marine unit industry under the slogan "Made in Egypt" and working to restore the leadership of national shipyards through joint work and cooperation with the South Red Sea Shipyard Company, in addition to increasing the volume of work of the Authority's companies and shipyards, which enables it to meet the needs of the canal and Egyptian ports and open markets for foreign export.
For his part, Mr. Mustafa Al-Dajishi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of South Red Sea Shipyard Company, explained that the company has witnessed a significant leap in the volume of its business thanks to the partnership with the Suez Canal Authority, which enabled it to expand its infrastructure projects, enhance the company’s productivity, and acquire new expertise in building various marine units.
The team concluded its tour by greeting the company's employees and urging them to exert more effort to implement the ambitious expansion plans and deliver the contracted marine units according to the specified timetable.
