Mawani issued a unified license to the Global Shipping Line “PIL” as an approved foreign investor to carry out maritime agency activities at ports across the Kingdom.
The license was granted in accordance with the approved controls and requirements set out in the regulatory framework for maritime agents, reflecting Mawani’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency of the maritime sector and improving the quality of operational services provided at ports, while attracting global expertise and facilitating knowledge transfer to the Kingdom in line with international best practices in maritime transport.
This step reflects Mawani’s ongoing efforts to develop the maritime business environment, enable global companies to invest in the Saudi market, and strengthen competitiveness within the maritime sector, as the company leads operations across 29 countries through its regional headquarters in Riyadh.
The move also supports the Kingdom’s standing as a pivotal logistics hub in line with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, contributes to attracting additional global shipping lines, and reinforces Saudi Arabia’s role as a key link connecting the three continents.
It is worth noting that Mawani’s regulatory framework allows foreign companies to invest in maritime agency activities within the Kingdom. Granting the license to the Global Shipping Line “PIL” forms part of a broader series of licenses awarded to leading global maritime transport companies, aimed at fostering the growth of an advanced and sustainable maritime sector.
This initiative further supports the development of Saudi ports and enhances their investment attractiveness, strengthening their role as a key driver of regional and international trade, and generating added economic value in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to position the Kingdom as a global logistics hub.
