The Saudi Ports Authority (“Mawani”) announced the addition of the maritime shipping services “Gulf Sea Shuttle 2” and “Gulf Sea Shuttle 3”, operated by MSC, to King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam. This step contributes to enhancing the competitiveness of Saudi ports on the global maritime transport map, supporting the smooth flow of international trade, and increasing operational efficiency.
The “Gulf Sea Shuttle 2” service connects King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam with two regional ports—Hamad Port and Umm Qasr Port—before returning to King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, with a capacity of 1,500–2,500 TEUs.
The “Gulf Sea Shuttle 3” service also connects King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam with three regional ports—Khalifa Port (Bahrain), Shuwaikh Port, and Shuaiba Port—before returning to King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, with a capacity of up to 2,500 TEUs.
This comes as part of Mawani’s efforts to enhance the Kingdom’s ranking in global performance indicators, support national exports, and align with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s position as a global logistics hub and a key link connecting three continents.
It is worth noting that King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam plays a vital role in connecting the Kingdom to global economies. It features advanced infrastructure and integrated logistics facilities that attract major international companies, with 43 fully equipped berths and a total handling capacity of up to 105 million tons of cargo and containers.
