Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced the implementation of an emergency inland fuel surcharge in response to recent developments in the Middle East, including the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which have significantly impacted global fuel availability and distribution.
To ensure the continuity of reliable and sustainable inland transportation services under these exceptional conditions, ONE will introduce an Inland Haulage Fee — IHD (inbound) and IHL (outbound) — as an emergency fuel surcharge applicable to inland transportation. The surcharge will be reviewed on a monthly basis and adjusted in line with prevailing diesel price trends.
With the introduction of IHD/IHL, the previously announced Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS) for Inland Point Intermodal (IPI) movements, issued on March 10, will be discontinued. Customers are advised to refer to the revised tariff outlined in the appendix.
ONE further clarified that all shipments involving inland haulage in the United States and/or Canada will be subject to both the Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS) for ocean transportation and the applicable IHD or IHL for inland transportation.
The company acknowledged the potential impact of these developments on its customers’ operations and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting transportation needs during this period. Customers requiring further clarification are encouraged to contact their local ONE representatives.
Ocean Network Express remains committed to maintaining consistent and reliable service amid ongoing market challenges.
