The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) signed a contract with the Arab Chemical Storage Facilities Company Limited (ACT) to construct storage and export tanks for chemicals and petrochemicals at Jubail Commercial Port. The project, with an investment exceeding SAR 500 million and covering an area of 49,000 square meters, will contribute to increased operational efficiency and capacity, aligning with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy to solidify the Kingdom's position as a global logistics hub. This step comes within Mawani's efforts to enhance the private sector's role in supporting the GDP and to reinforce Jubail Commercial Port's position as a driving force for trade. The project will have a storage capacity of 70,000 cubic tons, contributing to the competitiveness of Saudi ports at both the regional and international levels.
The contract was signed by His Excellency the President of the Saudi Ports Authority, Engineer Sulaiman bin Khalid Al-Mazrou, and His Excellency the Group's General Manager and Vice Chairman of the Board, Mr. Rakan bin Abdullah Ali Reza, in the presence of several officials. The project aims to develop and increase the storage and export capacity for chemicals and petrochemicals according to the highest international standards and to support supply chains. The project includes the construction and development of specialized facilities.
The project aims to store and export chemicals and petrochemicals, providing storage and distribution services for local and international import and export of chemicals in accordance with global quality and safety standards. It also involves equipping integrated systems for handling and processing chemicals, and implementing advanced digital and procedural systems to enhance operational efficiency and process management.
Furthermore, the project contributes to supporting national supply chains, strengthening the Kingdom's chemical logistics capabilities, and increasing operational efficiency and capacity, thereby enhancing customer competitiveness and contributing to the realization of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 goals by supporting infrastructure development to bolster the energy, industrial, and supply chain sectors in the Kingdom.
It is worth noting that Jubail Commercial Port serves as a support port for King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, facilitating trade and acting as a gateway for Saudi exports and imports to global markets. Its proximity to the main Eastern Industrial Complex and petrochemical plant in Jubail Industrial City is a key advantage.
