Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, and Major General Hani Rashad, Governor of Suez, met to discuss ways of joint cooperation, in the presence of Lieutenant General Ashraf Atwa, Vice Chairman of the Authority, Dr. Mohamed Allam, Deputy Governor, and a number of leaders of the Authority and the Governorate, at the headquarters of the Suez Governorate.
At the beginning of the meeting, Lieutenant General Osama Rabie stressed the Authority’s keenness to enhance its community role in the Canal and Sinai region and to contribute effectively to supporting sustainable development efforts, which require the combined efforts of all state institutions and joint action.
The head of the authority explained that the Suez Canal pays great attention to localizing maritime industries and providing job opportunities for young people, in addition to activating community contributions in a number of service sectors, especially the health care sector.
For his part, Major General Hani Rashad, Governor of Suez, affirmed that the Authority remains a key partner in supporting development efforts in the Canal cities, expressing his hope that the next phase will witness more fruitful and constructive cooperation in various fields to achieve the desired development goals and meet the aspirations of the citizens in the governorate.
The Governor of Suez pointed out that the development plans in the governorate aim to improve the services provided to citizens in all sectors, and to maximize the benefit from its capabilities to promote industrial development and encourage tourism.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, presented the Authority’s shield to Major General Hani Rashad, Governor of Suez, who in turn presented him with the Governorate’s shield.
Following that, Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, inspected a number of the Authority’s work sites in Suez Governorate, to monitor the progress of work and to assess the implementation rates of a number of development and service projects.
The tour began with Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Authority, inspecting the Suez Marine Shipyard Company to follow up on the latest developments in the company’s external repair activities, where he inspected the maintenance and repair work being carried out on the dry dock for three tugboats, including the tugboat “Ansar 20” belonging to the Saudi Red Sea Company, and both the tugboats “Tahya Misr 3” and “Tahya Misr 4” belonging to the Red Sea Ports Authority.
The Chairman of the Authority also listened to a detailed explanation of the repair operations being carried out for a number of the Authority’s marine units on the mechanical slipway, and followed up on the latest developments in the maintenance and repair process being carried out for the Maradif 229 unit belonging to Maradif Petroleum Services Company, where the complete overhaul work is being carried out next to the 55,000-ton floating dock.
The head of the authority witnessed the line-up of the company’s ground units, which the company had successfully developed, rehabilitated and improved its efficiency with its own capabilities.
The team was briefed on the progress of the floating dock development and efficiency improvement works within the company’s development plan and maximizing the benefit from its operational capabilities, in parallel with the company’s pursuit of partnership with private sector companies to implement some projects with specialized technologies such as renewable energy generation and management projects.
At the conclusion of his tour of the company, Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Authority, made sure to communicate with the company’s workers and engineers, urging them to continue their hard and continuous work, complete the company’s development plans, preserve its assets, and rationalize energy consumption in non-productive operations.
Following that, Lieutenant General Osama Rabie headed to follow up on the developments of the ongoing construction work to develop the marine berths in the Port Tawfiq movement section, where development work is underway to increase the depth of the berths to 9 meters with a length of 325 meters, through the Suez Marine Shipyard Company, the main contractor for the project, and implemented by Al-Gharably Company for Integrated Engineering Works, under the supervision of the Engineering Department of the Authority.
The head of the authority directed that the pace of work be accelerated and the completion rates increased to finish the first phase of the marine berths, which is scheduled to be completed during the coming month of July, God willing, in order to accommodate the new tugboats that are being built as part of the strategy to develop and modernize the maritime fleet of the authority.
During his field visit, Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Authority, was keen to check on the level of health services provided at the Authority’s medical centers. He inspected the Suez Canal Authority Hospital in Port Tawfiq, and followed up on the work in the emergency department, outpatient clinics, and the dialysis department, which contains 7 dialysis machines. He also made sure to inspect the intensive care unit after its preparation and operation were completed, as well as the operating wing.
Following that, the head of the authority inspected the new outpatient clinic complex in the Hawd Al-Dars area, which includes various medical specialties through internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, neurology, ophthalmology, dental and women’s clinics, in addition to the annexes for the laboratory, radiology and pharmacy.
The head of the authority was keen to learn about the impressions of patients and visitors to the outpatient clinics after their experimental opening, as he listened to their opinions and requirements.
