Liberia is strengthening its position in the global maritime industry through high-level engagements at Posidonia 2026, one of the world’s largest shipping exhibitions. Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA) Commissioner/CEO Cllr. Neto Zarzar Lighe Sr. held talks with international maritime stakeholders aimed at expanding cooperation and promoting Liberia’s maritime interests.
During discussions with representatives of the Liberian Ship Owner Council, both sides explored opportunities to increase the employment of Liberian seafarers on international vessels. The Council expressed interest in recruiting more Liberian maritime professionals, while LiMA reaffirmed its commitment to training and certifying seafarers through the Liberia Maritime Training Institute (LMTI).
In a separate meeting, shipping magnate Panos Laskaridis praised the efficiency of Liberia’s maritime registry and encouraged continued growth of the Liberian flag fleet. The engagements highlight Liberia’s efforts to strengthen global partnerships, create employment opportunities, and maintain its standing as one of the world’s leading maritime registries.
