His Excellency Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al‑Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of the Saudi Ports Authority, has laid the foundation stone for the new logistics corridor linking Jeddah Islamic Port with the Al‑Khumrah Logistics Park. The milestone ceremony was attended by Eng. Suliman Almazroua, President of Mawani, alongside senior officials and leaders from across the transport and logistics ecosystem.
The SAR 689 million‑plus project, executed by Mawani, will create a dedicated 17‑kilometer logistics corridor featuring two lanes in each direction. Twelve bridges will be constructed along the route to provide seamless truck access between the port and the logistics park, eliminating reliance on Jeddah’s internal road network.
His Excellency emphasized that this direct corridor will significantly boost truck traffic efficiency and elevate Jeddah Islamic Port’s handling capacity by approximately 10%. It also supports multimodal transportation integration, reinforces supply chains, and drives infrastructure development across the region.
Representatives at the ceremony highlighted the corridor’s role in improving traffic efficiency and road safety in Jeddah Governorate. By segregating truck traffic from general traffic lanes, the corridor will alleviate urban congestion and smooth traffic flow around the port area.
This initiative is part of Mawani’s broader efforts to enhance operational efficiency at Jeddah Islamic Port, leveraging the strategic value of the Al‑Khumrah Logistics Park. It is fully aligned with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS), which aims to establish Saudi Arabia as a global logistics hub bridging Africa, Asia, and Europe.
In addition to the core infrastructure, the project will include emergency access points, maintenance facilities, and a comprehensive rainwater drainage system. It is expected to improve environmental and living standards by reducing carbon emissions and preventing congestion caused by heavy truck traffic.
Upon completion, the corridor will offer significant advantages to transporters, importers, exporters, logistics park operators, and shipping lines. These include streamlined cargo and container movement, enhanced supply chain effectiveness, and the creation of new investment prospects in the region.
Jeddah Islamic Port, one of the Kingdom’s flagship logistics and trade gateways on the Red Sea, spans 12.5 square kilometers and features 62 multi‑purpose berths alongside several specialized terminals and advanced handling facilities.
