In a move aimed at expanding areas of bilateral cooperation and supporting economic integration, Egypt and Eritrea signed an agreement for cooperation in the field of maritime transport during an official visit to the Eritrean capital, Asmara.
The agreement was signed during a visit by Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, and Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Transport, on Saturday, May 16, in the presence of Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki.
The agreement comes as part of efforts to enhance logistical connectivity between the two countries, support trade and investment, and open new avenues for economic and developmental cooperation.
This step also reflects the political leadership of both countries' commitment to developing and elevating bilateral relations to broader levels, while working to maximize the benefits of Egypt and Eritrea's strategic location on the Red Sea.
