Saudi National Shipping Company (Bahri) has confirmed that its very large crude carrier (VLCC) Wedyan (IMO: 9524970) was involved in an incident while transiting outbound through the Strait of Hormuz on 7 July 2026.
In a statement, the company confirmed that all crew members and personnel on board are safe and accounted for, with no injuries reported. Bahri further noted that the vessel’s cargo remains secure and that the tanker continues to be in a seaworthy condition.
Following the incident, Bahri said it immediately informed all relevant authorities and continues to coordinate closely with them, as well as with other maritime stakeholders. The company added that it remains in constant communication with the vessel’s crew while closely monitoring the situation.
Reaffirming its commitment to operational safety, Bahri emphasized that the protection of its personnel, the marine environment, and the safe management of its vessels remain its highest priorities. The company also reiterated its continued commitment to operating its fleet in line with the highest standards of safety and reliability.
